Description:
The tour begins in the Old City — Icherisheher, the ancient residential quarter in the heart of Baku, surrounded by fortress walls and home to the iconic Maiden Tower. Inside the Old City, you'll explore dozens of historical landmarks, including the Market Square, centuries-old mosques, caravanserais, traditional bathhouses, residential buildings, and the magnificent Shirvanshahs’ Palace — a true gem of Azerbaijani architecture. Scenes from famous Soviet films such as The Diamond Arm and Amphibian Man were filmed within these ancient walls.
After the guided tour, you’ll have free time for lunch at one of the city’s cozy restaurants.
The second part of the excursion is dedicated to the architectural legacy of Baku’s first oil boom (late 19th – early 20th century). You’ll discover elegant mansions built by Baku's oil barons, including the Baku City Hall, the Philharmonic Hall, the Mukhtarov House, and other impressive buildings that reflect the spirit of the Belle Époque era.
